About Us
Welcome to Kelpie Quines (and a loon*)
Our private Scotland tours are offered by a wee group of friends and family, but most of the time, Monica is the main host.
Kelpie Quines private Scotland tours are intended to share the best of Scotland with our guests. Through personalization suited to your needs and wants, our tours are hand-knitted with care and love based on what you share as your dreams of Scotland (and we all have dreams of Scotland). Each private Scotland tour crafted by Kelpie Quines – whether a few hours, a day, or a week – is as unique as our guests, with the sole constant being the ever-present beauty and wonder of Scotland.

Because no two Kelpie Quines tours are alike, pricing is provided after we discuss your hand-crafted vision for your Scotland adventure. You can trust that our pricing is more than competitive as our goal is to make Scotland, and our passion for her, accessible to our guests.
Meet Monica, lover of all things sea and Scotland
Originally from Dundee and now living in Edinburgh, Monica’s love of traveling Scotland started at an early age. Her parents would bundle Monica and her siblings in the car to take them on adventures – rain or shine – into Scotland’s Angus Glens, to St. Andrews, or across to the Western isles with flasks of tea and boiled egg sandwiches.
Growing up with a love of storytelling, good food, history, music, and travel, Monica has always enjoyed meeting locals and visitors alike on her Scotland adventures. She feels lucky that she can combine her passions doing what she loves as a private tour guide.

*What's a loon? What's a quine?
“Loon” is Doric for boy or man, while "quine" is Doric for girl or woman.
Doric is the traditional language of the lands in the northeast of Scotland.
